I needed a lacrosse ball to get out of bed!Ā
There was a time when I needed a lacrosse ball just to get out of bed.
After a difficult childhood, injuries from college football, a war in Iraq as a Marine, and years working violent crime in Atlanta's projects as a REDDOG officer, my body had accumulated decades of tension, stress, and adaptation. It had been keeping score for a long time, and I was losing.
Ā Every day felt harder than the last. I spent years searching for answers and thousands of dollars on treatments, therapies, gadgets, and passive modalities that provided temporary relief but never lasting change.
What I eventually discovered was that the problem wasn't a lack of treatment. It was a lack of understanding.
My nervous system had learned patterns that no amount of external intervention could fully resolve. Change didn't begin until I became an active participant in the process.
Through somatic practices and nervous system education, I gradually learned how to work with my body instead of fighting against it. I learned how to recognize patterns, build capacity, and restore the flexibility that had slowly been lost over years of survival.
I won't tell you that somatics saved my life.
But it gave me my life back.
Today, my mission is simple: to help others develop the skills to understand and work with their own nervous systems. Not because I have the answers, but because I've learned that the most important answers can't come from someone else.
They have to be discovered through your own experience.
